E6 system

System E6 offers many advantages besides its long service life. It features extremely quiet, , low-vibration operation, complementing the low-vibration linear drive concept. It minimises the polygon effect which can occur during the rolling motion of an e-chain®. The ultra-low noise levels have been confirmed in a recent report by the Rheinland Technical Inspection Agency.

Quiet operation

Study by the Machine Tools Laboratory and Business Operations (WZL) at RWTH Aachen on "Vibration Tests in Energy Supply Chains". Results: the "E6" energy supply system made by igus® GmbH, Cologne, is characterised by extremely low vibration and smooth operation.

Noise level ≤ 37 dB(A)

A measurement conducted by the Rhineland Technical Inspection Authority (TÜV Rheinland) in May 2002 indicated a value of ≤ 46 dB(A) at 2 m/s and an unsupported length of 1.5 m for Series E6.52.100.100.0 given at least 10 dB(A) of sound pressure level generated by external noise. A measurement in the igus laboratory indicated 37 dB(A) for Series E6.29.080.075.0 at v = 1.0 m/s (unsupported).

Real-world examples

In ARD's Tagesschau studio, very smooth movements of the overhead cameras are enabled by three camera robots suspended from the ceiling. The especially low-vibration E6 energy chain system is used so that energy and data are supplied as quietly and reliably as possible.
