Problem

With large nominal diameters or high process pressures, considerable forces can act on the axes of disc valves. This can increase the forces required to operate the disc valve and cause the axes to wear more quickly. To solve this problem, some manufacturers use standard plastic bushings on the axes. However, the bearings are pushed loosely onto the shafts and easily fall off during installation and maintenance of the butterfly valves. If a missing plain bearing is only noticed during operation due to a leaking valve, this will cause a considerable disruption to operation.
